How do fillers work?

At Brighton Beauty Bar we use Dermal Fillers to renew the volume in the skin. They are injected just beneath the surface of the skin with the Hyaluronic acid volumising, softening and hydrating the skin. It also aids collagen and elastin production under the skin which gives the skin a more youthful texture.

As we get older our skin naturally loses collagen and elastin. In our youth we have an abundance of Hyaluronic Acid in our body but as we age this diminishes leaving skin drier and thinner. Over time this can cause lines and wrinkles to develop.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?

Millions of dermal filler treatments have been performed worldwide and are extremely safe and effective when injected properly, resulting in the most natural of differences.

At Brighton Beauty Bar we tailor each dermal filler treatment to your needs. There will be some discomfort during the treatment, mainly due to the use of needles but downtime is short with just a little redness and swelling.

What Results Can I expect?

Dermal fillers are not permanent and will break down over time, so further treatment may be required to maintain the desired look. As everyone’s skin is different, we say that dermal fillers can last anywhere between nine and eighteen months.

Your Brighton practitioner will give you all the advice you need when you come into our Brighton skin clinic.

Am I suitable for this treatment?

Dermal filler procedures can be used on a variety of individuals looking to smooth lines and wrinkles. Facial fillers are also recommended to clients interested in rejuvenating the skin, restructuring and adding volume to specific areas like the lips.

Treatment is not advisable for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Before and Aftercare

Important information:

Any treatment comes with a small risk of complications. Most of these will present immediately and be easily identified by your practitioner whilst you are in the clinic. However, in rare circumstances, it is possible that a complication will not present until later in the next few days once you have returned home.

Please contact us immediately if you experience:
Whitening of injected area (Grey mottled skin) pain, Numbness/tingling in the area, the area feels cold to touch. Discoloured blotches in non-injected areas or the same area. If you experience any of the above please contact us and we will assist you in person. Meantime

If your practitioner asks you to film yourself performing a capillary refill test, please do not panic – this is precautionary, you can do so by following the instructions below:

Just two fingers and apply hard pressure to the area of concern for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, let go of the area and continue filming for 5 seconds. Healthy tissues should see blood bounce back to the skin within 2 seconds after the pressure from your fingers is released. You should film yourself as you repeat this a couple of times over the area

itself and surrounding areas.
We’re here for you!

After Care

Dermal Fillers won’t usually cause any pain post-treatment, but soreness/redness is very common. We do recommend the following precautions before and after treatment: Keep upright for 6 hours. Do not lie on your front or stay bent over for long periods of time. No rubbing or massaging of the injected area for 6 hours after treatment, including facials.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for at least a week after treatment.
  • Also avoid activities such as yoga where inverted positions can increase bruising and swelling.
  • Avoid alcohol at least two days before and after treatment.
  • Blood thinning medication and painkillers such as ibuprofen should also be avoided to prevent bruising.
  • No extreme heat (sun-beds, sauna, sunbathing) or extremely cold temperatures for at least a week after treatment.
  • It is recommended to eat pineapple before and after treatment as pineapple contains bromeliad which can help decrease bruising.
  • Results can take up to two weeks to be noticeable.

A touch-up treatment within 2 – 4 weeks after the initial treatment may be necessary to achieve an optimal correction.οΏ½Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment 6 – 12 months after the initial treatment.
